Summary
Abstract:
The University of Washington Joint Institute for the Study of the
Atmosphere and Ocean (JISAO) offers a Piura Peru (5S) rainfall and river discharge dataset. Puerto Chicama is located at 8 degrees S on the Peru coast. February through May average Piura river discharge is correlated with Pto. Chicama and offshore ("Nino 1+2") SST anomalies at 0.74 and 0.58, respectively, and with Tahiti SLP anomalies at -0.39 (1931-83, Deser and Wallace (1987, JGR).
