Summary
Abstract:
The 1:500,000-scale reconnaissance geologic map of the Kodiak Islands, Alaska
covers more than 4,800 square miles (12,500 square kilometers) of south central Alaska. The Kodiak Islands are located on the west side of the Gulf of Alaska and are one of the largest areas of exposure of flysch and melange of the Chugach terrane of southern Alaska. This data set is also a portion of a statewide geology database, which is being compiled by the U.S. Geological Survey's National Surveys and Analysis (NSA) project, whose goal is to compile geologic, geochemical, geophysical, and other data.
