Geological mapping 1:50,000 in the upper Ferrar Glacier area: the massifs of Pivot Peak, Terra Cotta, Knobhead, Table Mountain and Rotunda
Entry ID:
K112_1987_1988_NZ_1
Summary
Abstract:
1:50,000 geological mapping was conducted at the head of the Ferrar Glacier including the massifs of Pivot Peak, Terra Cotta, Knobhead, Table Mountain and Rotunda. The exposed rocks are almost entirely Beacon Supergroup intruded by Ferrar Dolerite. Trace fossils and lithological associations were used to interpret depositional environments, about which there has been some debate.
