Abstract:
The Africa Soil Profiles Database, Version 1.0, was compiled by ISRIC - World Soil Information as a project activity for the Globally integrated- Africa Soil Information Service (AfSIS) project (www.africasoils.net/data/legacyprofile).
The Africa Soil Profiles Database is a compilation of georeferenced and standardized legacy soil profile data for Sub-Saharan Africa. Version 1.0 (April 2012) ...  Purpose: The purpose of the georeferenced Africa Soil Profiles data is to serve as input to prediction modelling, relating spatial soil data to spatial covariates, for producing evidence-based soil property maps. The data can also serve to inform conventional area-class mapping approaches as well as study of Africa soil. Basically, the database is a repository of soil profile data.
