Abstract: The tables in "Catfish Processing" contain current and historic
data from the monthly Catfish releases published by the National
Agricultural Statistics Service. They show information
summarized from processors' monthly reports on farm raised
catfish, including round weight purchased, prices paid,
inventory, quantity sold, prices, and imports. Tables begin as
... early as January 1970 and go through August 1993.
All major processors are included in the Catfish Processing
Survey along with most of the smaller processors which meet the
criteria of having a minimum capacity to process 2,000 pounds
live weight of fish per 8 hour shift. The Catfish report refers
strictly to the processing of farm-raised fish and excludes wild

Collection Methodology: Surveys of the farm universe are made
several times each year and estimates are adopted based on
survey data and any other available administrative data that
would support estimate levels.
