Abstract: Hurricane Katrina made landfall as a category 4 storm in Plaquemines Parish, LA
on August 29, 2005. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), NASA, the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers, and the University of New Orleans are cooperating in a
research project investigating coastal change that occurred as a result of

Accuracy of monthly averages are -10 W/m2 over land and 5-20 W/m2 over water. The monthly root mean square errors of are 5-25 W/m2, depending on location.
