Palmer Station Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) R/V Polar Duke SantaClaus Cruise Data, December 1994
Entry ID:
LTER_PAL_PD9412
Summary
Abstract:
Data was collected during the SantaClaus (Studies in Antarctica:
Coupled Linkages Among microorganisms) LTER time-series R/V Polar Duke cruise. The cruise was a special-focus microbiology cruise focused on the trophic coupling among various microbial assemblages including heterotrophic bacteria, archaeobacteria, phytoplankton, protoans and viruses. Sediment traps from PD94-01 deployment were retrieved and re-deployed in Palmer Basin. Hugo Island Automatic Weather Station (AWS) was installed and Racer Rock AWS serviced. Experiments included ice algal work in Crystal Sound, coastal phytoplankton bloom work at Paradise Harbor, and tethered spectral raidance buoy deployment.
