Summary
Abstract: The carbonate system has been studied in the Florida Bay from 1997 to 2000.
Measurements of pH, total alkalinity (TA) and total inorganic carbon dioxide
(TCO2) were made from twenty stations in the bay and used to calculate the
partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO2) and the saturation states of
aragonite (Arg) and calcite (Cal). The results were found to correlate with the
salinity. The pH was ... View entire text

Quality -The cell volumes of the titrators used during this study were determined to
0.03 cm3 in Miami by titrations using seawater of known total alkalinity.
-Standard errors of sigma = 0.09 for pH and sigma = 119 microatmospheres for
pCO2-Standard deviations of sigma = 152 micromoles kg- 1 for TA and sigma = 152
micromoles kg-1 for TCO2.
-The overall precision of the values of pH (+/- 0.003), TA (+/- 1.3 umol kg-1)
and TCO2 (+/- 2.2 micromoles kg-1) was quite good.
-The measured values at sea have an overall standard deviation of 1.5
micromoles kg-1 and agree with the standard reference values to within +/-0.7
umol kg-1. Unknown
