Summary

Abstract: The Along Track Scanning Radiometer (ATSR) on board the ERS-2 satellite is a
slightly modified version of the ATSR-1 flying on ERS-1. ATSR-2 has three
additional wavebands in the visible part of the spectrum at 0.55, 0.65 and 0.87
mm. These new channels were carefully selected to enhance the ability of ATSR-2
to monitor vegetation cover and state and to provide an improvement in
