Seismometer data from calving front of Ross Ice Shelf
Entry ID:

Summary
Abstract:
A broad-band seismometer (Guralp 40T, with Quanterra Q330 digitizer/baler) was operated at a site called "Nascent Iceberg" (located on the Ross Ice Shelf about 1 km north of a large rift expected to eventually break and produce the next iceberg from the Ross Ice Shelf) from November 2004 through November 2006. This instrument recorded during the October - May time period of each year when solar ...

Quality
The Guralp 40T sensor and associated digitizing equipment were obtained from PASSCAL and deployed in a shallow snow pit on the Ross Ice Shelf (near the AWS site called "Nascent"). Solar panels were used to generate power for a 12 v battery system.
