Summary
Abstract: The Sea Surface Temperature (SST) products are produced from AVHRR (Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer) and TOVS (TIROS Opertional Vertical Sounder)data collected by the TIROS-N/NOAA 6/7/8/9 series of polar orbiting satellites. TOVS data is used to calibrate AVHRR data for atmospheric effects. The model used to produce SST's makes use of the near-IR channel (channel 3) and the two IR ... View entire text
