Summary
Abstract: The Mid-Atlantic Integrated Assessment (MAIA) is a research,
monitoring, and assessment initiative. Its main goal is to develop
high-quality scientific information on the condition of the natural
resources of the Mid-Atlantic region of the eastern United States,
including the watersheds of the Delaware and Chesapeake Bays,
Albemarle-Pamlico Sound, and the Delmarva Coastal Bays.

Scientific activities conducted in the MAIA region focus on assessment
issues of critical importance to resource managers and environmental
decision-makers. In its three years, MAIA has helped forge alliances
between federal and state agencies, producing an array of reports on
estuaries, ground water, streams, land use, landscape attributes, and
other related topics.
