Summary

Abstract: Hydrographic surveys are conducted by the National Ocean Service (NOS)
to measure water depth. The measurements are used in the production
of nautical charts.

NOS nautical charts are compiled and updated using aerial
photographs and field surveys as a basis. In general, charts are
compiled at a smaller scale than field survey sheets and reflect
