Abstract:
This data set consists of Globigerina bulloides Mg/Ca as a paleotemperature proxy. Indicated glacial-interglacial changes in sea surface temperature (SST) are about 4°C cooler in the Subantarctic Indian Ocean and 2.5°C cooler in the Subantarctic Pacific. Mg/Ca-based SST estimates and d18O determinations are then used to generate site-specific seawater d18O records. Data precision: Mg/Ca, ±2.1%; SST (est.), ±0.8°C; O18w (est.), ±0.2" G. bulloides O18 interpolated from Hays et al., 1976 and Imbrie et al., 1992, Mg/Ca data on cleaned G. bulloides shells by ICP-MS, SST estimates based on eq.
