Last Glacial Maximum Sea Surface Temperature EstimatesEntry ID: NOAA_NCDC_PALEO_2001-040
Abstract: This data set consists of Oregon State University Last Glacial Maximum Sea
Surface Temperature Estimates using the Down-core Transfer Function Method.
This is the CORE-TOP foram data (26 species) used to calibrate the SST equation
This is SST (mean annual sea-surface temperature) Atlas values,
transfer-function estimates and ... Residuals for core tops
This is the DOWN-CORE foram percentage data (26 species) used to create factors
This is the Factor Score Matrix derived from performing Q-mode Factor Analysis
on down-core data. Note: Species list does not include G. menardii and G.
tumida. These species were counted, but are not included in this analysis of
the data. Input data for the factor analysis are percentages, closed on 26
spp. All species percentage data were transformed by ln(species percentage + 1)
This is the LGM foram data (26 species)
This is the LGM Mean Annual sea surface temperature (SST) estimates, and SST
anomalies relative to gridded core-top estimates.
This is a gridded file of annual average LGM SST anomalies, OSU-CLIMAP. Three
columns are latitude, longitude, and SST anomaly. NOTE THAT THESE ANOMALIES
ARE NOT LGM-MODERN, BUT INSTEAD ARE OSU_LGM - CLIMAP_LGM. SST_DIFF values are
calculated in the latitude-longitude region 140W-20E, 20S-20N. All other
differences are defined as zero. This file is provided for simple addition to
the CLIMAP seasonal boundary conditions, to test the effect of changing mean
annual temperature in the designated region, without modifying the seasonal
cycle as defined by CLIMAP (1981). This file was used along with those of
CLIMAP (1981) to calculate boundary conditions for the climate model study of
