Abstract:
Successful application of the alkenone palaeothermometer, the Uk37' index,
relies upon the assumption that fossil alkenone synthesisers responded to growth-temperature changes in a similar manner to the modern producers, chiefly the coccolithophores Emiliania huxleyi and Gephyrocapsa oceanica.
