African 6000 Years B.P. Land Surface Conditions, WDC Paleoclimatology
Entry ID:
NOAA_NGDC_PALEO_AFRICA6K
Summary
Abstract:
This dataset describes land surface conditions at 6000 years B.P. on a
1 degree x 1 degree grid across northern Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. It includes information on the percentage in each grid cell occupied by specific vegetation types (steppe, savanna, xerophytic wood/scrub, tropical deciduous forest, and tropical montane evergreen forest), open lakes, and wetlands, plus information on the flow direction of major drainage channels. The data is available via ftp: ftp://ftp.ncdc.noaa.gov/paleo/pollen/africa6k Additional paleoenvironmental data is available from: http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/paleo/paleoveg.html
