Summary
Abstract: The Buitenzorg, Indonesia data reside in 1 book, 'Observations
Meteorologiques Tires Des Observations Faites Au Jardin Botanique De
Buitenzorg 's Lands Plantentuin' (C/eg AOb), and is written in
French. The tables contained in this book are hourly weather
observations and daily weather averages for Buitenzorg, Indonesia from
1901 to 1904. The parameters included in these tables are air
temperature, temperature at ground depths of 30, 60, 90 cm, and
absolute and relative humidity.

The eastern China data reside in 1 book, 'Climatic Atlas of China
Proper' (Miscellaneous Unclassified Publications). The maps contained
in this atlas are monthly, seasonal, and annual weather averages for
Eastern China from 1860 to 1943. The variables displayed in this
atlas are pressure, air temperature, and precipitation. For
precipitation, there are maps of the month of maximum and minimum
precipitaion, rainy days, period with monthly precipitation greater
than 100 and 200 mm, the maximum and minimum annual, and the maximum
daily precipitation. Other features included in this atlas are

Observatory Weather Maps, November 1926 Specimen Month' (Miscellaneous
Foreign Weather Maps). The data contained in these books are daily
weather observation tables for China, Japan, and the Phillipines, and
daily weather maps for East Asia and adjacent seas for the month of
November 1926. The surface parameters included in the tables are
pressure, wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity, and present
weather for a specific observation time. The maps include isobars,
cloudiness, and wind barbs.

The southeast Asia data resides in 6 books, 'Service Meteorologique De
L'Indochine Observations Meteorologiques' (C/ed I410), and is written
in French. The data contained in this book are hourly weather
observation tables for Southeast Asia and daily weather maps for East
Asia and adjacent areas of the Western Pacific for the period 1937 to
1939. The surface parameters included in the tables are cloudiness,
rainfall, visibility, and surface wind speed and direction. In
addition, hourly upper level wind observations are given for Southeast
Asian cities. The maps contain isobars, wind barbs and cloudiness for
5 A.M of each day of the period.

The Taiwan and Korea data reside in 1 book, 'Aerial Weather Charts of
Sea Near Japan' (Miscellaneous Foreign Publications), and is written
in Japanese with notes in English. This book contains two types of
data: monthly mean wind rose diagrams for Taiwan and Korea from the
surface to 3,000 meters; and wind contour maps for the East Coast of
Asia and adjacent seas, for levels of 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, and 3,000
meters above the surface. These data are for 1922 and 1923 only.

The Manilla, Phillipines data reside in 1 book, 'Observatorio
Meteorologico De Manila' (C/eg 20 M278C), and is written in
Portuguese. The data contained in this book are graphs of continuous
daily weather traces for Manila, Phillipines from 1884 to 1888. The
parameters displayed on these graphs are surface pressure, wind speed
and direction, temperature, humidity, vapor pressure, and rainfall.
In addition there are some seismological parameters displayed.

The China precipitation data reside in 1 book, 'Etude Sur La Pluie En
Chine' (C/eb G417), and is written in French. The data contained in
this book are maps of monthly, seasonal, and annual precipitation for
China averaged over the period 1873 to 1925.

These books are part of the foreign meteorological data collection
held by the NOAA Central Library in Washington, DC. Information in
this collection dates back to the 18th century for daily, monthly,
seasonal, and annual tabular summaries, and the 19th century for
weather maps. These data are the result of foreign exchange
agreements, but the collection has not been updated since 1983.
