Eastern Cordillera NATMAP Project in Southern Alberta, Canada
Entry ID: Canada_GSC_EastCordNATMAP

Summary
Abstract: The Eastern Cordillera NATMAP project re-maps the bedrock and Quaternary
geology along the eastern edge of the Cordillera in southern Alberta. It is
creating a new broad-ranging, digitial geoscience information base. Seismic
information, made available to the project through the co-operative support of
industry is coupled with existing well data and extends the study into the
third dimension. The Southeastern Cordillera NATMAP is managed through the
Geological Survey of Canada (Calgary), and is a joint research effort with the
Alberta Geological Survey, the Geological Survey of Canada in Vancouver, and
Canadian petroleum industry and academic researchers.

Numerous maps, journal and peer review publications, poster
presentations and theses have been published and presented. Please consult the
following address for more details:
http://www.nrcan.gc.ca/~dlebel/sanatmap/96prod1.htm .

A CD-ROM on the surficial geology of the area is currently being
assembled. To re-map the bedrock and Quaternary geology along the eastern edge
of the Cordillera in southern Alberta and to create a new broad-ranging,
digital geoscience information base.
