Entry ID:
K009_1978_1979_NZ_2
Summary
Abstract:
While investigating the moraine deposits and geology on the northeast ridge of Derrick Peak above the Hatherton and McCraw Glacier, an important impact site of a meteorite shower was discovered. The Waikato University Group and an American-Japanese research group combined efforts to describe and analyse the Derrick Peak meteorite fall. Description of the meteorites was recorded and geochemical investigations of the composition, metallurgy and mineralogy of the meteorites and their inclusions were conducted.
