Ridge PetDB: Petrological Database of the Ocean Floor
Entry ID:
PETDB
Summary
Abstract:
The Ridge PetDB is a petrological database of igneous rock samples collected
on the ocean floor. It is a project funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), developed and maintained by the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) of Columbia University, and sponsored by the Ridge Inter-Disciplinary Global Experimetns (RIDGE). Users may query the database for geochemical data using several constraints including rock chemistry, tectonic setting, geographic location, bibliography, petrography, and alteration history. PetDB also has rock trace elements and isotopes data sets ready for immediate download. PetDB may be accessed via the following URL: http://www.petdb.org/ Geographic Coverage
