Summary
Abstract:
Formation of various biomats is commonly observed in the waste rocks
and drainage ditches in the surrounding area of mines and deposits. By the electron microscopic observation of the biomats, the deposition of heavy metals and the formation of minerals in the cell of microorganisms and algae are observed. This paper presents the results observed in the drainage ditches of Omori Silver Mine and Homanzan Mine in Shimane Prefecture, former Nakadatsu Mine in Fukui Prefecture, and Hishikari Mine in Kagoshima Prefecture.
