Digital terrain and snow model for Aboa absolute gravity station in 2003/2004, 2005/2006 and 2011/2012Entry ID: aboa_DTM_december2003
Abstract: Digital terrain, snow and ice model for absolute gravity station at the Finnish
Antarctic research station Aboa, Nordenskiold Base, Dronning Maud Land, (73deg
02min S, 13deg 24min W). The surface of snow is mapped along a large number of
quasi-continuous profiles, using RTK-GPS in a sledge towed by snowmobile, and by staking out the terrain by foot. More
than 35 km of profiles are measured during each season at a sampling interval of 1 m. It is planned to repeat exactly the same tracks during future expeditions
for monitoring and studying snow accumulation and its effect to absolute gravity measurement.
The studies include also a stake line with 29 measurement points for monitoring
snow surface heights and glacier motion.
