Summary
Abstract: The Pacific Institute for Studies in Development, Environment, and
Security makes data available on worldwide freshwater resources.

Tables, charts, and maps describe renewable freshwater supply by
country, freshwater withdrawal by country, access to safe drinking
water by region, access to sanitation by region, hydroelectric
capacity by country, desalination capacity by country, global
morbidity and mortality by water-related diseases.

Data are compiled from various sources, including the UN Food and
Agriculture Organization (FAO), UN World Health Organization (WHO),
Institute of Geography of USSR, and World Resources Institute (WRI).

The World's Water, is a site dedicated to providing up-to-date water
information and data and web connections to organizations,
institutions, and individuals working on a wide range of global
freshwater problems and solutions.

This site complements and supplements the book The World's
Water: The Biennial Report on Freshwater Resources, by
Peter H. Gleick (Island Press, Washington, D.C.)
