Summary
Abstract: ABSTRACT: The NOAA's Office of Satellite and Data Distribution (OSDPD) generates geostationary sea surface temperature (SST) products. These products are derived from NOAA's Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES) and Japan's Multi-functional Transport Satellite 1 Replacement (MTSAT-1R). They are available for the coastal United States including Alaska and Hawaii.

Quality ATTRIBUTE ACCURACY REPORT: SST values are accurate to within 0.5 degrees Celsius. For the CoastWatch Datatype, NOAA CoastWatch performs validation of the data through buoy match-ups or other in situ measurements for adjusting processing algorithms as necessary.
