Geescroft Wilderness, Long Term Soil Organic Matter Study

Summary

Abstract: This study began in 1885. The area is naturally regenerated woodland
since 1885. Map of 1623 shows the field as arable. Arable crops were
also present 1847-78. The field was left fallow 1879-82. Clover was
grown 1883-85; last cut 1885. Last cultivated 1883. There are
currently no treatments. This was previously an experimental site

statistical tests. Assessment of errors was attempted by Jenkinson
(1971). Data given by Jenkinson (1971), (1992) are mostly repeat
analyses of archived material.
