Current Meter Data from the Sargasso Sea, July 1977 to August 1978 (POLYMODE)
Entry ID:
SHIRSHOV_CURRENTS
Summary
Abstract:
This data set consists of discrete daily measurements of zonal and meridional
components of currents were made at 19 points at 4 depth levels (100, 400, 700 and 1,400 meters) in the Sargasso Sea. Low pass filtering was employed to estimate synoptic variability in the ocean. For each level and each day stream function is computed with the Gandin optimal interpolation method. Data were collected during the USSR-USA POLYMODE Experiment (July 1977 to August 1978). A books with sets of components and stream pictures for each 2 days is available. Geographic Coverage
