PRISM High Resolution Analyses (DSI-6143)Entry ID: gov.noaa.ncdc.C00376
Abstract: PRISM High Resolution Analyses is digital data set DSI-6143, archived at the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). This data set consists of monthly and annual precipitation and minimum/maximum temperature files for a high resolution spatial grid. Each file is 1 month of 1 year for the period January 1, 1895 to December 31, 1997. Data are from the 48 contiguous states of the United States of ... America. Source data are from DSI-3200, Daily Cooperative Summary of the Day, also archived at NCDC; Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Snowpack Telemetry (SNOTEL) network; various local networks; and missing data points filled in by the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), using statistical methods. Distribution of the original point measurements from those data sources to a high resolution spatial grid was accomplished using the Parameter-elevation Regressions on Independent Slopes (PRISM) model, developed by Dr. Christopher Daly of Oregon State University.
Purpose: To make a wide range of climatic data available to researchers and the public.
