map Time Smoothing for Giovanni-3
Entry ID: G3_mapTimeSmoothing
Summary
Abstract:
The mapTimeSmooth service for G3 takes a series of grids as an input and
computes a series of smoothed grids as the output. The output values are the result of applying a simple boxcar filter to the series of input grids, where the units of the filtering dimension are individual files. Input parameters: Geophysical variables Output ... Smoothed variable array Output Parameters: Same as input parameters File Type: Input and output files are in HDF4. Sub-definitions:
Service Description:
Algorithm Details Essentially this service is performed by repeated applications of the map Time Average service. since the filter window moves, there is usually more than one output grid produced. he averaging service takes care of the required subsetting and weighting, while the smoothing service merely acts as a controlling element, passing the sets of files for each smoothing window to the averaging service, along with the required weighting and geographic subsetting parameters. The averaging service also handles the details of collapsing three- dimensional input arrays into two-dimensional arrays. Caveats/Warnings: Origin/Software: Implemented in IDL User Options
