Abstract:
Three dimensional total ozone variations are associated with the low ozone air
mass transport, with air mass vertical exchanges through the tropopause and
with other synoptic weather behaviors. The above was verified during the
presence of the Antarctic polar vortex and the"ozone hole", which introduced an
interesting aspect to the atmospheric dynamics of the region. The first set of

... data obtained through the SCO3P* network, associated with the 50
hPa temperatures obtained from radiosonde stations, and especially from
Marambio ozone-sondes, showed a good space-time agreement, which validated
these sets of data. It was also possible to review some aspects of the behavior
of the ozone layer in relation to upper air dynamics near the tropopause and
the synoptic weather during the 1996 Spring season.
