Abstract:
The MODIS Interactive Subsetting Tool (MIST) provides subsets of certain Version 5 (V005) MODIS products, over the Greenland Climate Network (GC-Net) and the International Arctic Systems for Observing the Atmosphere (IASOA) stations. Data are provided in a text Comma Separated Value (CSV) file format, courtesy of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Distributed Active Archive Center (ORNL DAAC). However, this tool does not supply the IASOA or GC-Net in-situ data at this time. We hope to be able to supply the in-situ station data in the near future.
Users select a station, one of the available MODIS data products (MOD09A1, MOD10A1, MOD11A2, MCD43A1, MCD43A2, and MCD43A4), the product's parameters of interest, and a temporal coverage. The interface also allows users to obtain data for a particular season for multiple years by including an intra–annual range. For example, a search of data for the month of May for each year between 2000 and 2006.
The tool takes only a minute or two to search for the data and return a result. The search returns a Results Identifier Number (ID), the Site ID(s), and a list of the parameters. To access the output, the user selects a data download type, either processed or raw, and then clicks on the Get Selected Data button to receive the CSV file. The user can also plot the data on three different types of graphs: a Folded - Time Series, a Normal - Time Series, or a Scatterplot.
