Portable University Model of the Atmosphere (PUMA)

Abstract: The Portable University Model of the Atmosphere is a circulation model in
FORTRAN-90 developed at the Meteorological Institute of the University of
Hamburg. PUMA originated in a numerical prediction model that was altered to
include only the most relevant processes in the atmosphere. It serves as a
training tool for junior scientists, allowing them to work with a program that
is easier to ... understand and modify than ECHAM.

that have been achieved in PUMA runs. You may also want to visit our ongoing
project to produce a Planet Simulator, with one of its major components being
PUMA-2, an extended version of PUMA that includes humidity and a boundary
