The Fire Research And Management Exchange System (FRAMES) is a collection and|
distribution of wildland fire tools. FRAMES is an ongoing project that will
serve the information and tools needs of the wildland fire community, their
partners, and the public.
The goal of FRAMES is to be an effective mechanism for wildland fire technology
and information transfer. The following objectives will help FRAMES accomplish
1. FRAMES will provide consistent documentation, evaluation, and distribution
of the tools necessary for wildland fire management and other partners.
2. FRAMES will create a communications environment of collaborative
partnerships between wildland fire professionals for the dual purposes of tools
development / refinement and for information sharing.
3. FRAMES will seek opportunities to consolidate information (i.e., datasets,
databases, etc.) and when appropriate make it commonly accessible to wildland
fire stakeholders. Sensitive or preliminary data will be security protected.
4. FRAMES will practice and be an advocate for data collection standards and
protocols that help integrate communications, GIS, GPS, remote sensing, and
modeling technologies in an effort to create a comprehensive wildland fire
management information system (MIS).
