Abstract:
Forest managers have long desired easily accessible information about wildlife species and their habitat requirements. Two tools that address this issue in Michigan and the Lake States are MIWILD and MIWILDhab2. MIWILD is software that uses a database of expert knowledge to analyze extent of wildlife habitat. ... developed as a set of information and assessment tools for individuals interested in the wildlife of Michigan and their associated habitats. MIWILD allows a user to associate any of the terrestrial vertebrate species in Michigan with habitats available in Michigan. MIWILDhab2 provides assessments of changes in suitable habitat area for wildlife species of interest as a result of acreage changes due to user-specified management alternatives.
