Abstract:
The U. S. Geological Survey EROS Data Center provides access to geospatial data through map services, web services, interactive maps, and data delivery. The GISDATA Map Studio ( http://gisdata.usgs.net ) is the portal to this information. The idea is to provide a single point of entry to geospatial data. The portal is continually updated as new web services, map services, ... and interactive maps are created for access and data delivery.
Description of Portal Menu: The GISDATA Map Studio provides ten menu options to investigate access to geospatial data. They are: - News & Announcements - Interactive Maps - Data Delivery - Map Services - Extract Services - Web Services - Viewer Templates - Links - Information Sheets - FAQ
GIS DATA MAP STUDIO, USGS find a public web map service, including hazards distribution, elevation data, high-resolution orthoimagery, and much more.
GISDATA provides access to geospatial data sets that have been specially prepared for seamless access and delivery. Some data serve many applications and have national extent. Other data were prepared for a particular time or event, and usually for a limited region. In some cases, similar data sets are also available from some other agency or web site. In these cases, our data may have been reprocessed to serve a particular application, or may be kept as a "snapshot in time" to document an historic event. We have tried to document the "authoritative source" so that users may locate the most up-to-date source for each data layer.
Capability of GISDATA Map Studio: The GISDATA Map Studio site can be used as a map service. Enter the url http://gisdata.usgs.net within the software that provides map service capability. This provides access to data used in the interactive maps. The web service query is another capability that can be connected through GISDATA Map Studio.
Future Plans: The plans are to continually add to the map and web services, interactive maps, and data delivered.
Description:
The Geography Network is a global network of geographic information users and providers. It provides the infrastructure needed to facilitate the sharing of geographic information between data providers, service providers, and users around the world. The Internet is used to deliver geographic content to the user's browser and desktop. Through the Geography Network, you can access many types of geographic content including live maps, downloadable data, and more advanced services. The Geography Network content is distributed at many locations around the world, providing you access to the latest information available directly from the source. You are invited to explore and participate in the Geography Network.
Description:
GIS.com is a portal to GIS information on the Web and was created by ESRI, a GIS software developer.
The site is intended to educate anyone interested in geographic technology on the value that technology brings to their day-to-day activities. The site also provides GIS users with resources to help them in their work.
