"SMAP observatory and availability of the data for distribution to public users. Data distribution to public users will begin after the calibration/validation (Cal/Val) phase of the mission is complete. The Cal/Val phase follows the 60-day post launch initial orbit checkout (IOC) phase. The duration of the Cal/Val phase is 6 months for Level 1 products and 12 months for Level 3 and Level 4 products."
