Abstract:
This data set contains total ozone, reflectivity, ozone mixing ratios
and layer amounts derived from Nimbus-4 radiance data from the
backscatter ultraviolet spectrometer (BUV). The ozone mixing ratios
are given at 19 pressure levels, and layer ozone amounts are given for
4 layers. These tapes also contain measured radiances (calibrated and
corrected) for all channels.
The Nimbus-4 BUV provides
... global daylight coverage (from 80 deg N to
80 deg S) every six days. The horizontal resolution provided by the
BUV is 200km x 200km, and the vertical resolution ranges from 8km to
15km. These data were formerly stored on 4 6250bpi tapes at NSSDC.
The data have since been transferred to the GSFC Distributed Active
Archive Center (DAAC) and transcribed to a single 8mm Exabyte tape
encompassing the entire period from 4/10/70 through 5/6/77. The CPOZ
data set from the Nimbus-7 SBUV is of the same format and continues
through February 1987.
