Abstract:
This data base covers the spatial and temporal distribution of most euphausiids species dominating the coastal and oceanic areas of Central/southern Chile. This region is an important fishery area based on pelagic and demersal fishes and reported as having very high levels of primary production promoted by wind-driven coastal upwelling. Euphausiids along with copepods comprise the main contributors to zooplankton biomass in this region and they are the dominating food resource of small pelagic (anchovy and sardines), large pelagic (Jack Mackerel) and demersal fishes (Chilean hake).
