Abstract:
The Antarctic Artefacts database contains a record of items that have either been recorded in-situ in Antarctica, or have been retrieved and returned to Australia for storage.
The artefacts are organised on a collection basis, and currently the archive centres around three main collections:
Antarctic Division Library Artefacts Cape Denison Artefacts Heard Island Artefacts
Many artefacts have accompanying images in the AAD's Image Antarctica.
The original library artefacts database has been incorporated into this database.

Quality
The date provided in temporal coverage is approximate only, and represents the oldest know artefact in the database. A number of other artefacts in the database may be older, but their date of production is unknown.
