Abstract:
Orthorectified pan sharpened multi spectral image of Laurens Peninsula, Heard Island. The image was derived from Quickbird satellite imagery captured on the 4th of February 2003.
More information about the images used, the processing, and the feature mapping are documented in an image report available for download at the url given below.
Quality
The image processing was undertaken using the orthorectified satellite image of Laurens Peninsula. See the metadata record &Orthorectified Quickbird Multi Spectral Image of Laurens Peninsula& (ID - QUICKBIRD_LAURENS_ORMS) for full image details. The Multispectral image has a pixel resolution of +/-2.4m while the pan image has a resolution of +/-0.4m.
These images were combined to ... produce a higher resolution colour image known as a pan sharpened image. To produce the pan sharpened image the following parameters were used: Method - Brovey Transform, Resampling Technique - Cubic Convolution, Data Type - Unsigned 16 bit. The image was projected to UTM Zone 43 (WGS84). The pixel resolution of the mosaiced image is 0.4m
NOTE: These images have been processed twice. The first time with satellite ephemeris data and ortho-rectified using the Radarsat DEM. The second time with Jenny Scott's control points and ortho-rectified using the Radarsat DEM. This metadata record refers to the first process. See metadata record id QUICKBIRD_LAURENS_PAN for the 2nd.
