This data represents the total collection of acoustic, underway and satellite data collected on voyage 1 of the Aurora Australis in the 2003-04 season.
Owing to their large size (approx 256 GB), these data are primarily intended as a storage copy, and can only be accessed by contacting the Australian Antarctic Data Centre.
For online access to the underway data for voyage 1 2003-04, see its specific metadata record, or the marine science database.
The Acoustics data (ADCP) are in SIMRAD EK64 format (binary), and the echoview software is required to read them. The Underway data are in ASCII format. The Satellite Images are in TERASCAN format, and TERASCAN software is required to read them.
An index sheet to the dataset is available as an excel download.
The data has been acquired at 0.1 Hz. There will be the occasional invalid values such as temperatures being out of range.
This dataset has not been checked. Please verify the data before use.

Where data for a particular sensor do not exist for a particular time, ... the last known value is used unless the sensor has been disabled or has encountered an error. For example, some sensors only record data every minute, but the resolution for the underway dataset is 10 seconds, so the same value will be used 6 times a minute. No averages are taken for sensors that capture data at a rate other than every 10 seconds. Instead, each record will be a snapshot of each sensor at that time.
The data are available on a collection of 64 DVDs. For access contact the Australian Antarctic Data Centre.
