Abstract:
The seasonal melt regime of the Wright Lower Glacier, Wright Valley, Dry Valleys, Antarctica was investigated and monitored over three field seasons (04-05, 05-06 and 06-07). An appreciation of the amount of water coming from the glacier was measured by gauging an outlet stream during the 05-06 season. The discharge was calculated using the velocity-area method. A Flomate 2000 was used to measure velocity at several points across the channel. These measurements were made in conjunction with water sampling.
