Abstract:
48 Adelie penguins, one Emperor penguin, one Skua and one Snow Petrel were examined for ectoparasites to add to the study of avian ectoparasites of the New Zealand sub region. Two methods were used: dusting the feathers of live birds with Dri-die commercial powder desiccant insecticide and collection feathers from already dead birds and dissolving them by simmering in 20% KOH and collecting the parasites.
