Abstract:
The behavioural responses of incubating Adelie penguins to a person standing 1 meter away and to a cardboard shield of similar size to a person also at 1 meter distance were measured to determine how much of the response of an incubating bird to the approach of a person is a specific response to a person rather than simply a response to a novel large object.
Quality
The raw data is hormone concentrations and behaviour measurements. These data form the basis of ongoing publications, and are not available in any form.
The plasma samples are in the private laboratory freezers at the Institute of Veterinary, Animal and Biomedical Sciences, Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand. It is possible to provide plasma samples once the investigators measurements are made.
