Abstract:
Data was obtained on distribution and feeding habits of the Collembolan Gomphiocephalus hodgsoni at Cape Geology/Granite Harbour. A considerable amount of descriptive data has been collected regarding food intake. Gut and faeces contents of animals collected from different habitats have been analysed microscopically. A wide variety of food constituents were found and abundance of each of these in animals collected from each habitat has been estimated. Animals were also presented in culture with a variety of naturally occurring potential foods.
