Collection of benthic Antarctic fishes to determine isopod ectoparasite species distribution and host specificity and collection of specimens for a museum reference collection
Abstract:
142 specimens of small benthic fishes were captured at Cape Royds and examined for ectoparasites. Where practical, fishes with isopod ectoparasites were retained to obtain additional information on host specificity and site selection. Representative samples of Antarctic fishes and invertebrates, including a small specimen of Dissostichus mawsoni were taken for a reference collection at Auckland Museum. The total collection included about 250 specimen lots.
