Summary
Abstract: The pelagic community of the Ross Sea consists of a permanent component (=holoplankton) and a temporary component which is primarily made up from the larval stages of benthic marine invertebrates and fish (= the meroplankton). The distribution and abundance pattern of the meroplankton in the Ross Sea was investigated. A combined morphological and molecular approach was used to identify the ... View entire text

Quality The mosaic was constructed from the GeoCover 2000 dataset. The WMS Global
Mosaic is a high level dataset, affected by the accuracy of the input scenes,
plus the ones introduced by the mosaic building procesing step. Average values
of each of the input spectral bands have been preserved as much as possible.
The values of the source scenes have been altered to reduce the visible
artifacts inherent in an image mosaic. Where two or more scenes contribute to
the value of a pixel, a normalized weighted sum was used to produce the value
of the output pixel. During the coordinate transformation form UTM to
geographical coordinates, input image sampling has been done using bilinear
interpolation.
