Measurements of heart rate, blood pressure, ventral aortic pressure, systolic and diastolic pressure in the hearts of healthy and x-cell diseased Antarctic fish, Pagothenia borchgrevinki
Abstract:
The effect of x-cell disease on the heart of an Antarctic fish (Pagothenia borchgrevinki) was investigated in resting and exercised fish to examine the ability of the heart to supply blood to the gills of disease infected fish. Fish were cannulated via the ventral aorta in order to measure heart rate, blood pressure, mean ventral aortic pressure, systolic pressure and diastolic pressure.
