Soil samples from Mout Fleming, Allen Hills and the McKelvey Valley to determine the fungal terrestrial biodiversity using cultures and molecular DNA techniques
Abstract:
Soil samples were taken from Mount Fleming (00-01), Allen Hills (03-04) and the McKelvey Valley (07-08) to ascertain terrestrial biodiversity at the sites, as determined by molecular DNA techniques and/or mycological culturing. The isolated cultures and DNA sequences are maintained either at University of Minnesota or at University of Waikato.

University of Minnesota's project homepage. These are joint collaborators with the University of Waikato Publications (pdf) are available on this website.
Quality
Collected specimens and isolate samples are all held at the University of Waikato Antarctic Fungal Collection, PC2 facility as frozen glycerols at -80C. There are approximately 2,700 isolates. Approx 1,350 specimen were transferred to ZyGEM Corp Ltd, Culture Collection. Personal notebooks are held by the investigator. Please contact the investigator for further information.
Access Constraints
Culture at the University of Waikato are used for research purposes and are also linked with Zygem Pharmaceuticals for research and are therefore not publically available. Please contact the investigator for more information.
