Abstract:
Six-Second Upper Air Data is digital data set DSI-9948, archived at the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). This data set contains radiosonde data. High resolution 6-second data has been received at NCDC since April 1995 and archived as digital data set DSI-9948. Geographic coverage is the United States of America including Alaska and Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, US territories in the Pacific, and nations in the Pacific hosting offices of the US National Weather Service (NWS). Major parameters deal with a typical radiosonde release and are time, pressure, dry bulb temperature, dew point temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, wind direction, ascension rate, longitude, latitude, elevation and azimuth, and altitude.
Purpose:
To make a wide range of climatic data available to researchers and the public.
